How often do we begin each year and think, this is the year I am going to read through the Bible? That’s a GREAT thought!

But what about our kids?? What can we do to encourage them to read their Bibles daily, soaking in biblical truths that their hearts need to hear?

I’ve got a roundup of some GREAT (and simple) free Bible reading plans for kids to follow. 🙂

Easy Bible Reading Plans For Kids

We know how important it is as Christians to live, breathe and soak in God’s Word.

My husband and I did a Bible reading plan that included reading through the ENTIRE Bible in one year. We should try and do this every year as Christians!

But we want to include our kids too, right?!

Yes, my daughter is only 4, so she’s still learning to read – therefore there will be a lot of us reading to her from our favorite storybook Bibles – but we still read from our family Bible to her, and trust God will bless that and help her retain that knowledge!

And for kids that are a little older and want to read for themselves, these bible reading plans are great options! And you can join them too! When they see you reading your Bible, it makes them want to as well. 🙂

Teaching our kids about the Bible is so important because it is literally God’s Words TO us – He teaches us how to live, about salvation, and that everything points to Jesus and why we even have a purpose.

Plus, it’s a great way to begin practicing scripture memory, and teaching our kids to hide God’s words in their hearts from a young age, so they can be prepared for spiritual battle as they grow.

The best part about all of the ones listed below…

They are completely FREE! No worrying about spending more money, and get your kids into God’s Word this year. Win-win! Most of these kids’ Bible reading plans are in PDF format – great to download and print, or read on a tablet. 🙂

You can even make it a part of your Family Bible time together!

Without further ado, here are 4 fantastic easy Bible reading plans for kids

Kaylene Yoder is known for her AMAZING resources for Christian women who want to grow in their faith. These Bible reading plans for kids she offers are another fantastic option!

This plan gives your kids about 15-30 minutes of reading each day, which is totally doable!

One thing that sets this plan apart – she includes a separate page for reflection which is such an IMPORTANT part when reading God’s word!! This page includes:

  • Verses, phrases or words that stood out to me
  • What is God speaking to me about this passage?
  • My prayer

This makes a great option for really letting your kids not just read the Bible, but learn more about it by meditating on it as well, and hiding the words in their hearts (Psalm 119:11)!

1. Foundations for Kids: A 260-day Bible Reading Plan for Kids

The Foundations for Kids is a daily 260-day reading plan for kids – it highlights the foundational scriptures that every Christian should know.

It uses the H.E.A.R. method (which is what we use at church!) and this book uses it as follows:

  • Hear: kids can study God’s Word with scripture memory
  • Explain: there’s a section that explains what the verses mean
  • Apply: includes an activity to help them apply the Bible truth they learned
  • Respond: Last step and most improtant, a prayer for kids to pray

Overall, this is a great intro for kids ages 6+ (or kids who are reading/writing) and getting them to really dig in and learn HOW to study the Bible.

2. Day by Day Kid’s Bible

This Day by Day Kids Bible is so great because it helps your kids read through the ENTIRE Bible in one year, in less than 7 minutes a day! Wow!

Some awesome features of this book:

This book is recommended for ages 7 and up, but you can work through it with younger kids as well.

3. Bible Reading Plan for Kids: 365 Daily Scripture Readings

This Bible Reading Plan For Kids book includes 365 daily readings through the Old and New Testaments, and helps kids read through the major scriptures in the Bible!

Each day they have some Bible reading to do, and then answer two questions about what they read to help them apply it and retain it. 🙂

  1. What is this Scripture about?
  2. What does this Scripture teach me about God?

Something really cool about this one is it is designed to where you can use whichever translation you prefer – we prefer the NIV or ESV – and it is also undated meaning you can start at any time of the year!
