There are so many things that the world tries to instill into our kids… but as Christian parents, we want to make sure we are instilling TRUTH into our children!

There are so many amazing promises of God and biblical truths that we want our kids to know and understand!
Not only are these truths what we base our Christian faith on, but they help us to understand what our purpose is on this Earth. These truths will radically change the hearts of your children and the way they see the world!!
They will give them a good, solid foundation to build their faith on, and an understanding of who God is and wh we are even here.
The more we relay these to them, even as toddlers, the more they will retain this and the foundation will be laid so you can build upon it as they grow older. We only have them for a short time, so let’s press in and raise kids who love and fear the Lord!
We are ultimately here to glorify and honor God in ALL that we do. There is nothing more important!

20 Important Truths from the Bible
Here are some of what I believe are the most important biblical truths that we should begin teaching our kids from a young age!
1. We are all sinners
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” Romans 3:23
The first important biblical truth we want to make sure your children know is that we are ALL sinners.
Including them!
Who does this verse say are sinners? ALL.
We are born into sin… I know we want to think our kids are too young and are mostly good, but the truth is they were born into sin and that sin reveals itself from a young age.
It’s also a beautiful reminder in our parenting and being sanctified, that we let our kids know even Mommy and Daddy sin! No one is an exception to this Bible truth.
2. There is only ONE true God
“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:17
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3
What is the one difference between Christianity and other religions? We worship one God.
The world will try to tell us to worship other (little g) gods, whether that is the love of worldly things, idols, money, or even ourselves. But it’s important for our children to know that there is one TRUE God!
And THE God of the universe is the one true God, regardless of whether people believe in Him or not – it doesn’t change who He is.
3. There is only ONE way to heaven
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
The same as that there is only one true God, there is only one way to get to heaven to spend eternity with Him… and that comes through salvation in Jesus Christ.
Jesus tells us that there is no way to get to the Father except through Him.
He came to live a perfect, sinless life and was put to death on a cross because of OUR sins. He didn’t stay there, He defeated death and now lives forever in heaven!
Just like we will when we choose to believe, repent, and accept this free gift of salvation.
Sometimes we get caught up in the mindset that we have to work to get our salvation. If we just try harder, we’ll be okay. But we can’t earn our way to heaven.
Take a look…
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
There is one truth, one life, and one way and that is through Jesus!
Do we want our kids to strive and desire to do “good works” and bear good fruit. YES! If you are truly saved, you want to live out a life pleasing to Him.
And it’s important for our kids to understand that their worldly accomplishments, while are good things (good grades, ball games, etc.), they don’t come with them to heaven.
4. We can approach God with confidence
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 14:6
No longer are we tied to the Old covenant, and must have a priest or someone intercede for us to God.
Jesus did that on the cross!! A one-time thing that now allows us to approach God’s throne with confidence.
How cool that your children can pray to God, and He hears them? This is an amazing Bible truth for kids to learn and soak in.
5. We are created in His image
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
In the beginning, the Bible says God created mankind in His image. Because God created us in His image, we have intrinsic value, meaning we have WORTH.
Your kids are worthy, and reminding them of this important truth from the Bible helps them know who they are in Christ!
The world has so much confusion, especially surrounding our identities. Our kids need to be reminded that God created them the exact way they are meant to be, including their gender.
6. We do not fear man
“So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:6
There is so much fear in the world, especially now! The world is dark and there is more and more evil popping up every day.
It’s easy to look outside and want to live in fear (even as parents, right??), worrying about what people could do to us.
But for our kids, we want to instill in them that they don’t answer to people. Rather, they answer to God, and there is no fear in Him!!
So when the world is telling them to do something that is not from the Lord, they can have that truth reminder to stand firm, even when it’s hard, and obey the Lord!
7. God knows us intimately
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14
This Psalm is so beautiful, and one that I personally have clung to throughout my life. It’s a beautiful picture of how much God loves us, and He truly knows us.
At different times in our kids’ lives, they may question who they are, if anyone truly knows and loves them… this verse reassures them that God made them, and He doesn’t make mistakes!
Especially when it comes to encouraging our daughters with scripture, because the world is not easy on our girls, is it?
It’s definitely a great Psalm you would want to memorize with your kids!
8. God has a purpose and plan for everyone
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
There are certain verses that most people, even non-Christians, hear and say “Oh yeah I have heard that.” This may be one of those verses, but I want to encourage you today to NOT let it become overused, going through the motions memory verse!
Ask God for fresh eyes and a fresh heart to understand this verse!
Encourage your kids that God has a very specific purpose for them that only THEY can do – He has given them gifts, talents, and abilities that are specific to them, and are capable.
9. Community is necessary for spiritual growth
This one has so many great references in scripture, that each plays a part and builds up to the truth that we NEED one another. We need to be involved in our local and global church.
I saw this picture on Facebook not too long ago, and it was so true!!
Do you think the lone animal will survive? Most likely not! We will likely suffer and be led into temptation when we separate ourselves from the church and godly community.
Especially after the last couple of years, it seems that everything can be accessed online and so much more “convenient.”
But worshipping and fellowshipping with our brothers in Christ is essential to our spiritual walks, as you can see in the above verses. We need people surrounding us to uplift, sharpen, encourage, and do life with us!
And it’s not just about bringing your kids to church, but you as a family actively engaging in worship and serving in the body. 🙂
10. Prayer is powerful
“Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19
Praying is simply conversing with God, and keeps us in tune with Him. There are SO many examples of prayer in the Bible and how important prayer is.
In fact, even Jesus prayed!! That’s reason enough, right?
If Jesus was perfect and still prayed, doing nothing apart from what God told Him to do… how much more do we, sinful beings need to pray as well?
Think back on the prayers you have prayed in your life – how many miraculous things have you seen God do not only in your life but in others as well? No one can convince you that prayer isn’t real, because you have SEEN it happen!
Here are some great tips to help teach your kids how to pray, and begin cultivating that in them from a young age.
11. The greatest commandment
“Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37
This Bible truth is so important, that God even calls it His greatest commandment! We must love God with all that we have,m and secondly love our neighbor.
We show love to others regardless of what they look like, talk like, think, etc. – such an important concept to teach our kids!
12. We are called to make disciples
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
This one is so so so important!
Once we become a Christian, we don’t just say “Okay, I’m good now” and stop there.
We are called to multiply and share the Gospel with everyone we meet!
He calls us to the ends of the Earth, whether that is God calling your child to another country someday, or to minister to those in their own community – it’s a command, not a suggestion for believers.
13. God sent His Holy Spirit to guide us – we’re not alone
“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7
How beautiful is it that once Jesus ascended into heaven, He didn’t just leave us here? He actually said it was better for us, because when He went back, only then could He send us His Holy Spirit.
We have that 24/7 access to God through Him, and He even intercedes on our behalf!
Whenever my daughter is scared or needs comfort, we encourage her to ask the Holy Spirit to fill her with what she needs.
God hears the prayers of a 5-year-old as much as He does an 85-year-old. Amen?!
14. All Scripture is God-breathed
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 1 Timothy 3:16-17
The ultimate source of life is God’s Word, and all scripture is directly from Him!
We can read great Christian books, and encourage our kids to seek godly friends and council – but ultimately, God’s Word is what brings dead things to life, and it’s important that our kids understand EVERYTHING in it was God-inspired.
This is the book we want our kids to come to for answers, spiritual satisfaction, and the life-giving water that never runs out as they grow.
15. God desires all to come to salvation
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
God does not want ANYONE to perish, and just like we talked about earlier, we are commanded to spread the Gospel to the ends of the Earth.
We help plant the seeds, water them, and disciple others, but God is the one who brings forth the fruit!
Who knows how many people in heaven will be there because you or your child took the time to share God’s love with them, and God revealed himself to them. Even if we never see it here on Earth!
16. God loves people
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Not only does God love our kids and created them uniquely and wonderfully, but He also loves ALL people. Jesus loved all people and if we are to imitate Him, then we should love all people.
Think about all that God has forgiven us for, so how much more should we offer that grace, love, and forgiveness to others?
It’s a hard concept for adults sometimes, so instilling this in our kids when they are young can help them have gentle and grace-giving hearts. <3
17. God is holy
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16
What does holy mean? It means completely perfect and sanctified. Complete. That means He can have no part in our sin because it is against His nature!
We are called to live lives that are holy and pleasing to the Lord, and because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can have forgiveness, grace, and the opportunity to be more and more Christ-like each day.
18. God will never leave or forsake us
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
This is such a comforting biblical truth for our kids – most of our kids have gone through stages where they tend to cling to Mom and Dad.
LEt’s encourage them to cling to the Father because even though we love our children so much, they belong to Him!
We can’t always be there for them and protect them, but God promises to always be with them.
19. Heaven and Hell are real
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:3
How beautiful that God prepares a place for us in heaven?! When we choose to honor and glorify Him, Jesus promises us a place with Him in heaven, and the things we do here that have eternal impact MATTER. This life does impact life in heaven!!
We are to bring His kingdom here on Earth while we are here for the short blip on the spectrum that we are.
But, how do you explain “hell” to your young kids?
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
This is a scary reality that we don’t need to shield from our kids. My daughter is 5 and this conversation has come up so many times, especially after my grandmother passed away last year.
This was her first experience with death, and she had so many questions!!
We talked a lot about heaven, and about it being a place filled with people who chose to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. And they worship Him all day, every day!
But then came the question out of her little mouth… “Well, what about people who don’t know God? Where do they go?“
Unfortunately, hell is a reality for some people. I told her this, and also told her that’s why it was SO important for those of us who do know God to share His love with others!
20. Jesus is coming back one day
““Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen.” Revelation 1:7
Amen and amen! What an amazing and encouraging truth from the Bible that we can end with today.
Jesus is coming back one day, and there will be no more pain, suffering, tears… but joy for believers!
That’s why it’s important to share these sometimes hard-to-understand truths with our kids even at a young age because we don’t know when that day is coming.
NO ONE knows when He is coming back except the Father (Matthew 24:36). But we are called to be watchful, ready, and actively waiting.
One day, every knee will now and every tongue will acknowledge that God is who He says He is (Romans 14:11), and we want our children to be prepared for that day as well.
Prepare Your Children with Truths from the Bible
This is a great way to begin teaching your kids to memorize scripture, while also instilling important truths from the Bible in their hearts.
Our goal and what we should desire most in this life aside from Christ is to minister and disciple those around us – this means our kids too!!
