Every day in our morning basket, we always include some sort of poem reading, and it comes from one of these amazing rhyming theology books for kids!
We started with the Acrostic of Jesus and fell in love with the series! Now we own all 4 and I am telling you, they are so wonderful to have on your bookshelf.
The ABC format makes it also a great tool for adding to your learning routine and emphasizing the letters of the alphabet in a biblical way.
So you may have some more questions like what are all of the books, what ages is this book best for, what’s the format each day, etc.?
Let’s dive right in!
What Are the Books in This Series?
There are currently 4 books in this series with plans for a 5th! They are simple and quick to go through but have such depth when teaching your children things of God.
Here is a quick look at the four books:
1. The Acrostic of God: A Rhyming Theology For Kids
The first in the series gives an alphabetical list of the attributes of God!
“By giving children an alphabetical list of the titles and attributes of God written with a rhyming beat, Jonathan Gibson and Timothy Brindle make The Acrostic of God fun to read and easy to memorize. Each characteristic, A to Z, weaves together a beautiful picture of God.”
2. The Acrostic of Jesus: A Rhyming Christology For Kids
I won’t go too much into detail about this one, but it goes over the attributes of Jesus. In fact, I have a dedicated review for this specific book! It is one of our favorites in the series, so there was a lot to dig into!
3. The Acrostic of Salvation: A Rhyming Soteriology For Kids
This book has been fantastic to go through, especially as we are entering the age of accountability and answering real questions about salvation and the need for Him.
“The authors present an alphabet of words related to salvation, written to a rhyming beat: A for adoption, B for baptism, C for communion, all the way to Z. All the words paint a detailed and varied portrait of what salvation through Jesus is all about.
4. The Acrostic of Scripture: A Rhyming Biblical Theology For Kids
This is the newest in the series and we are absolutely loving it!!
“An alphabet of words introducing biblical theology, written to a rhyming beat, paints a detailed and varied portrait of the unfolding story of the Bible, as it is fulfilled by Jesus.”
This book also includes a QR code in the back to an audio version of it.
The Layout of Each Book
The layout of these books is so simple and “user-friendly.” It only takes about 5-10 minutes to read through and go over with your kids.
The books measure about 8.75 inches by 5.75 inches – it is in hardcover format with paper pages – so when reading with younger kids I would make sure to guide them so the pages won’t tear.
Each day features:
- An attribute beginning with each letter of the alphabet
- Short, easy to understand stanzas
- Scripture reference at the bottom relating to the attribute – great to use for memorizing scripture!
- Beautiful illustration of the letter for that day to visually appeal to kids
Here is an example of one of the pages from each book:
I really love the illustrations! They are so beautiful and my daughter is always looking at the picture and asking questions about them. Kids will love them!
There are also some different ways you can approach this book. One way is to read through it one poem day – so 26 days of A-Z.
But you can also reread the same one every day for a week, or however long, to help your kids with scripture memorization!
Once they have memorized it, you can even work on memorizing the whole poem and really instill those biblical truths in them.
What Ages Are These Books For?
What I really love about these books is that it is great for a variety of ages and family sizes!
Whether you have young preschool-age children or older elementary/beginning middle school.
It only takes a few minutes to read over so whether you do this in the morning, in the car before school, during your homeschool routine, family Bible time, or after dinner… there are so many options!
It’s simple enough to keep younger kids’ attention (my daughter is 6) but helps when teaching biblical concepts of who Jesus is for all ages.
You can also read these to your Sunday school classes or during Kids Ministry at church. Better yet, order them for your church library!
Overall I would say these books are great for ages 4-11.

Acrostic Poem Books For Kids
I hope this book review helps encourage you to find new and creative ways to instill solid, biblical truths in your children!
God’s Word tells us to “train them up in the way they should go” and “when they grow old they will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6) – books like this help us to do that!
