My daughter will actually be starting kindergarten in the fall, so these prayers I am holding near and dear to my heart!

We are doing a part-time Christian school and homeschool combination, which is such an answer to prayer in general. And I’m not gonna stop there!

We want to make sure we are praying our kids UP. The things they are facing and dealing with these days are almost hard to believe, except we know that the days are growing more and more evil.

It’s shocking, but not surprising, according to God’s Word.

But we still want to cover our kids’ in prayer whether they are in public school, private school, homeschool, or co-op; no matter whether they are kindergarteners or seniors in high school.

These back to school prayers with scriptures included are great to pray leading up to school, during school, and even praying them with your kids is so great!

We want to remind them and biblically affirm them affirmations of God’s promises over their lives.

On top of back to school prayers for your kids, I’ve also included some specific prayers for homeschooling families and teachers!

You can pray these with your kids and help teach them to pray prayers on their own as well!

That way, when they are facing trials and things this school year, they can remember these prayers and hide God’s Words in their heart.

There’s also a free printable back to school prayer sheet at the end for you to download!

Even if you don’t have kids, you can still pray these prayers and Bible verses over schools around you.

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways…” Psalm 91:11 NIV

Father God, I lift up [name] to you right now. I ask that you would go before them and prepare the place for them. Protect them and keep them safe in your mighty hand. Protect them from any attack from the enemy, from physical injury, illness, and any attacks on their mind as well. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

2. Prayer For Courage

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10 NIV

Heavenly Father, I ask that you would give [name] courage while they are at school. Help them to be strong in your mighty power, and give them the courage to do what’s right, knowing that they worship a living God who is active, and will help them in times when they need strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

3. Prayer For Compassion

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32 NIV

Lord, I lift up [name] to you right now. I pray that you fill [name] heart with compassion. Give them compassion for the people they will come in contact with at school – friends, teachers, classmates, etc. I ask that you would help [name] see these people through your eyes and show them the love of Jesus. I also ask for those working with and surrounding my child to have compassion as well. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I ask that you would help them form friendships that will last them a lifetime, and not let them be misled. Help them show love to everyone, but only let those who will stir up good works in them into their inner circle. I also ask that you would help [name] be a good friend to others as well. I pray their confidence and trust be in you alone and that the standards they strive for are those that you provide. Give them grace and peace and remind them of your great love for them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

9. Prayer For Peer Pressure

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.” Psalms 1:1-2 NIV

Father God, my heart breaks for these kids. There is so much pressure to be everything – perfection, the way they look, the things they have… but your Word tells us to delight in YOU, God. I ask that you would help [name] mediate on your Word day and night, and walk in step with you. Keep them from falling into temptation and fill them with your comfort in times of loneliness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Back To School Prayer For Homeschool Families

We are doing a part-time homeschool this year, and it’s such a blessing being able to teach your kids about God and real life at home.

But, I know it can be tough and that’s why I wanted to include a special prayer for homeschooling families.

Father God, I lift up those families who homeschool to you right now. I ask that you would strengthen them, encourage them and uplift them. Make their time together teaching and loving their family so fruitful. Being able to instill godly things in your children from a young age during school time is such a blessing. I ask that you would remind those who need it, that this is a beautiful ministry, and what you have called us to do. Be with them as they decide the curriculum to use, and all that goes into planning. But ultimately, that you would unify their family. Amen.

Back To School Prayer For Teachers

I want to recognize all the teachers who pour into these kids on a daily basis and include a special prayer of love and strength for you.

Whether you teach in a private Christian school, public school, or homeschooling group, this prayer is for you. <3

Father God, thank you so much for teachers who are willing to give so much of themselves to teach children and show them your love. I ask that you would fill them, and help them to find their strength and peace in you. Fuel them Lord, and more important than the subject they teach, help them to share the Good News of you, Jesus, to these kids. In your name, Amen.
